Hook Battle
Test six ad openers. Keep the one that works.
Most of what decides whether a short video ad works is its first three seconds. Hook Battle makes six versions of the same ad — identical body, six different openings — so you can find out which opener holds attention before you spend anything promoting it.
How it works
Paste a product URL or type a brief
It reads the page, works out what you're selling and who it's for, then writes one shared ad body — the part that stays the same in every version.
Six different openings get generated
Each version opens with a different style of hook — shock open, question hook, bestie / ugc-style and more — then runs into that same body, so the opener is the only thing that changes.
Knock out the weak ones
Watch them side by side and eliminate until one is left. Each gets a 0-100 hook score with a one-line reason, so you're not judging on gut feel alone.
Rematch the winner's style
Found a style that works? Generate six fresh takes on that same style and narrow down again.
The six styles it tests
Each opener is written to a different persuasion angle, so you're comparing genuinely different approaches rather than six rewordings of one idea.
Shock Open
Leads with a surprising or counterintuitive statement to stop the scroll.
Question Hook
Opens with a direct question the viewer is likely asking themselves.
Bestie / UGC-style
Casual, first-person, like a friend sharing a find — not a polished ad voice.
Problem-first
Names the specific pain point before introducing the product at all.
Stat / Claim
Opens with a concrete number or bold claim to earn attention.
Pattern Interrupt
Breaks the expected ad format with something visually or verbally unexpected.
What you get, every battle
- ✓Six complete vertical ads, not six prompts to try yourself
- ✓One shared body across all six, so the hook is the only variable
- ✓A 0-100 score and a plain-English reason for every opener
- ✓Native 1080p vertical, ready for TikTok, Reels and Shorts
- ✓The winner saved to My Creations like any other generation
- ✓Charged only if all six land — a failed battle costs nothing
Priced flat, like everything else here
A battle costs a flat 7 videos from your monthly allowance — the same allowance every other tool draws from. No credit pool, no per-model rate to learn, and nothing is charged unless all six versions generate successfully. The Creator plan includes 150 images and 15 videos a month at $49.99.
Questions
- Why test hooks at all?
- On short-form platforms most viewers decide whether to keep watching within the first two or three seconds. The same ad with a different opener can perform several times better or worse, so the opener is usually the highest-leverage thing to get right — and the hardest to guess.
- Why do all six share the same body?
- So the comparison means something. If each version were a completely different ad, you couldn't tell whether the hook or the body made the difference. Holding everything else constant isolates the one variable you're testing.
- Is the hook score a real prediction?
- It's an informed judgement, not performance data. It reads each opener — the line and the shot — and rates how strongly it would stop someone scrolling, with a reason. Useful for filtering out the obviously weak ones; no substitute for running them.
- What does a battle cost?
- A flat 7 videos from your monthly allowance, charged only if all six generate successfully. It also counts against a separate monthly battle allowance — 1 a month on the free plan, more on paid plans.
- Do I need to be a video editor?
- No. You paste a link or type a sentence. Everything else — the script, the footage, the voiceover, the cuts — is generated and assembled for you.
